Hello everybody,

I hope you have enjoyed the Detail in Macro Contest , the winners can be seen here . Also please take a look at the latest Community Choice Feature . This will be done again soon and I will let you know when I need some suggesters.

During September I will be messing and thinking about ideas for new activities and another contest . In general I would appreciate it if you would check the Macro FAQs first before sending me questions in notes, thank you . While I have this topic open, I am really not the Help Desk even though I help where I can and if time allows but do me the favor, we have a dA help site and also google for general questions is your friend. Not to sound blunt but lately I am getting way too many notes that can be answered easily if taken the time to look in the dA Help & FAQs or a simple google search.

About miscats : Gallery Directors do not currently clean or move miscats. dA is testing a new system to improve galleries. That doesn't mean it is a free for all to submit wherever you want. I am quiet disappointed how that macro gallery looks. Please submit your images to the right gallery and to all miscat reporters, you can still report miscats, even though they might not get moved right away , keep reporting them.

Create your own visitor map

Calibrating your monitor for viewing photographs correctly:

The strip shows a range of greys from pure black to pure white.
You should be able to see a clear difference between each
shade of grey, ranging from pure black (left) and pure white (right).

Along the top of the strips are alternate patches of black and dark grey.
If it looks solid black to you (look very carefully),
your monitor's brightness setting is too low. Increase it until you can -just- perceive the difference between the grey and the black squares.

If macro should be defined as 1:1 , i think we all break it sometimes. But there is a big difference between almost macro and, w00th, thats not even close.

I am not yelling at almost macro I am yelling at the Mount Everest and the moon being an unpleasant object in macro !!
