AR: Macro Photography - Back in Business

Hello again everyone,

Yes i am back with the AR Team and I will once again rule over the Macro Photography Gallery. Let's call it round 2 ! Before I left I had a contest planned and I would love to still do it, but I cannot guarantee you that it will be anytime soon now. It was approved before I left and I will get back in the saddle and see if its possible to launch it anytime soon.

I have kicked of round 2 with a short journal about the use of extension tubes for macro photography . I hope it is helpful for newbies and beginners, you can all read about it here : What are Extension Tubes ?

Also make sure to bookmark this journal : Macro Photography FAQs , because I will list all helpful Macro related articles and journals there.

Daily Deviations:

I will only feature Macro DDs, that are either located in the macro gallery or other Photography Galleries but do fit the Macro Photography definition. I prefer quality over quantity and so I might not feature a DD on a daily basis. To find out how to suggest me a DD , I also refer you back to the Macro FAQ journal.

A word to clubs on dA who name themselves Macro / Close up clubs : I would highly appreciate it if you would make yourself familiar with the definition of Macro photography . If you do get member submissions and the original deviation is not placed in the macro gallery, there might be a reason for this . So do not place your club submission in the macro gallery either. If you do get club submissions from an artist out of the macro gallery and you do think that it does not qualify for macro, please do not place it there either. You can contact me directly or submit a miscat ticket and I have a look at it and help you out. Thank you !

So much for the launch of round 2 with me. You thought round 1 was too strict .... just wait ! I am back with cracking whips ! If I hurt you by accident , just talk to me, I make mistakes too

p.s we will have scheduled chats in #macroART where you can show your macro shots for critique. Stay tuned , I am planning to have those bi-weekly . Its much easier for me to do it that way then to answer daily notes and this way other people can learn !

Create your own visitor map

Calibrating your monitor for viewing photographs correctly:

The strip shows a range of greys from pure black to pure white.
You should be able to see a clear difference between each
shade of grey, ranging from pure black (left) and pure white (right).

Along the top of the strips are alternate patches of black and dark grey.
If it looks solid black to you (look very carefully),
your monitor's brightness setting is too low. Increase it until you can -just- perceive the difference between the grey and the black squares.
