Hello everyone,

as you might have noticed, I have given the Conceptual gallery to ^Pete-B, please welcome him with much love and respect and be patient with him until he is settled in. So from now on I will only handle the Macro Gallery and strictly Macro. So what does that mean.... ? In regards to the DD suggestion you send me it means, that you can only suggest Macro Photos to me. They do not have to be located in the Macro gallery but they have to be Macro shots by definition. Which leads us to the next point, the definition. I keep repeating myself like an old record, but fact is macro is defined by definition and is a technique that requires a minimum magnification ratio from 1:1 , which means life size or larger on YOUR SENSOR or FILM and not on your computer screen. Fact is that a landscape is not even 1:1 on your screen, so do me the favor pay a bit more attention where you upload your images. The subject you photograph in macro should not be larger then 2com (3/4 inch ) please keep that in mind.

About DDs and suggesting them: I get a lot of suggestions for artists I have already featured. I know they are awesome and they deserve many DDs, but we needs some variety in DDs and I really would prefer to see newer or unknown Macro Photographers. Keep in mind that the Macro Community here on dA is rather small and it is impossible to feature a macro photo every day. Keep your eyes open for new macro photographers and please look at the quality of the picture before you send me the suggestion. If you are unsure if something is macro or not, look below in the "Macro News" section, there is a link that leads you to a lot of resources. Thank you !


There will be bi-weekly macro chats in #macroART where you can ask questions and talk about macro etc. Today we have a short notice chat at 3pm EST . I know its short notice, but I will be there. The next one is scheduled for March 30th 2008 at 3pm EST. I hope to see you there !
